That’s where Irene is
when she trains or delivers presentations. She is right
there with every member of the audience, engaging them
in the topic, her enthusiasm and leaving each one with
challenges to meet or thought-provoking ideas to
ponder.
Irene has achieved
Competent Communicator status with Toastmasters
International (Tri-County Talkers is her club) and is
almost finished with her Toastmaster Bronze level
requirements. She has been in front of audiences since
her early days as a Spanish teacher and has managed to
keep college kids with 8 AM classes in management awake
and engaged.
Career Management is
Irene’s passion and she can deliver a presentation,
workshop or facilitate a discussion on almost any topic
around job search and career transition, drawing on her
own experience as a trailing spouse following her
husband through three job changes and relocations,
finding jobs and building networks in new places,
joining the Peace Corps as an older volunteer and
selling possessions to move to the Russian Far East,
building a private practice and managing a portfolio
career. You suggest the topic your audience needs.
Here are some ideas:
Four Essential Job Search
Tools is a one
hour power presentation
on the Achievement Story, Pitch, Resume and Marketing
Plan. This has gotten rave reviews from participants
at WIND and RINODtoJobs job search networking meetings
throughout the Boston and Providence area.
Irene has always been
interested in the role of women in the workforce and has
developed an interesting workshop on Issues Women
Face in Job Search and Careers. Irene has delivered
this workshop at a joint program called “From Ethics to
Etiquette” with North Shore Community College and the
Beverly Chamber of Commerce focusing on how the academic
community can assist women, two chapter meetings of the
International Association of Administrative
Professionals and Cambridge’s Career Source, a
Massachusetts One Stop Career Center. “Great
presentation, easy to understand and well-presented”
said more than one participant.
"Thank
you so much for your excellent and stimulating
presentation last week. I thought your presentation went
over well capturing the imagination of the audience and
providing them with some concrete ideas about how to
improve their "gendered performances" in the job
search.”
A new workshop under
development is “Navigating the Federal Jobs
Application Gauntlet”
